Getting Started

How do I create a story?
Creating a story is easy:
1. Enter the hero's name (required)
2. Choose a genre (12 options available)
3. Add a setting and keywords (optional)
4. Select reading level and text complexity
5. Pick story length
6. Click "Generate Story"

Your story will be ready in 5-15 seconds.
What genres are available?

Choose from 13 exciting genres:

How long are the stories?
Choose from three lengths:
• Short: ~500 characters (3-4 paragraphs)
• Medium: ~1000 characters (5-6 paragraphs)
• Long: ~1500 characters (7-8 paragraphs)

Pick based on reading time and attention span.

Is Story Pop free?
Yes! All core features are completely free.
No account required—start creating stories immediately.
Story history is also free!

Premium features coming soon:
• Text-to-speech narration
• Cloud storage (with account)
• AI-generated illustrations
• Priority generation (faster processing)
• PDF download and print
Is there a daily limit?
Currently, there's no usage limit.
Please avoid excessive requests in short periods to keep the service running smoothly.
We may introduce daily limits for free users in the future.

Privacy & Safety

Do you store personal information?

We do NOT store form input data (hero name, age, personality, keywords).

However, generated stories are saved in our database (for up to 90 days). Story text includes the hero's name you entered.

What we store in our database:

  • Generated stories (title, text, educational message)
  • Story settings (genre, location, reading level, length, etc.)
  • Generation date and favorite status
  • Anonymous session ID

What's saved in your browser (localStorage):

  • Session ID (anonymous identifier) only

What we DON'T store:

  • Form input data (hero name, age, personality, keywords)
  • Any personally identifiable account information

If you clear your browser data, the session ID is deleted and you'll lose access to your history. History is not accessible from other browsers or devices.

Is it safe to use my child's name?

Yes, it's safe for these reasons:

  • A first name alone cannot identify a person
  • No connection to other personal data (address, email, etc.)
  • Session-based anonymous storage
  • Never used for marketing
  • Never shared with third parties

The name appears in the story text and is stored for up to 90 days, but it's anonymous data accessible only via session ID.

💡 If you prefer, use a fictional name like "Alex" or "Sam." The story will be just as enjoyable!

Is content safe for children?

Yes, we implement multiple safety measures:

  • Content filtering: OpenAI's safety filters automatically block violent or discriminatory content.
  • Age-appropriate language: Stories match the selected reading level.
  • No personal data storage: Children's names and ages are not stored.

If inappropriate content is generated, please report it to us.

Can children under 13 use Story Pop?
Yes, children under 13 can use Story Pop with parental consent.

Our service is COPPA and GDPR compliant. We do not collect or store children's personal information.

Content & Usage

Can I save stories?

Yes! Stories are automatically saved to your history.

Click "History" in the header to view all your stories.

History features:

  • Auto-save stories (up to 90 days)
  • Add favorites (⭐ button)
  • Re-read or delete stories
  • View generation settings

⚠️ Note: History requires your browser's session ID. If you clear browser data, you'll lose access to your history.

For long-term storage, copy and paste stories into a text editor or note-taking app.

Can I use stories commercially?
Personal use is free, but contact us before commercial use.

Personal use examples:
• Bedtime reading
• School homework or projects
• Social media sharing (non-commercial)

• Video content monetization

Can I regenerate the same story?
No, each generation creates a unique story, even with identical inputs.
This is by design—AI is creative!

If you love a story, copy it immediately after generation.

What AI technology powers Story Pop?
We use OpenAI's GPT-4o-mini model.
This advanced large language model (LLM) generates natural, creative text.

Our custom prompts ensure age-appropriate vocabulary and story structure.
Story won't generate / Error message

Try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Check your input: Hero name is required. Avoid inappropriate words.
  • Refresh the page: Reload your browser and try again.
  • Wait and retry: Server may be busy. Try again in a few minutes.
  • Clear browser cache: Cache issues can cause problems.
